OneWorld Spotlight: Dr. Jake Vasa
Even before Jake Vasa, MD, joined OneWorld in 2024 as a Family Practice Physician, he knew his way around. During his residency, Dr. Vasa rotated between multiple hospitals and clinics in and outside Omaha, with his continuity clinic for three years being at the OneWorld Livestock Exchange Building.
Joining OneWorld after completing his residency felt like “a no-brainer,” he said.
“It’s been an incredible opportunity to practice wide-scope outpatient Family Medicine for an organization whose values align so strongly with my own,” Dr. Vasa said.
“It motivates me knowing that every day we get to provide high quality primary care to a population in South Omaha/Bellevue that is traditionally underserved. I’m also blessed to be surrounded by excellent co-workers at Bellevue who make even the busiest of days an enjoyable one.”
Dr. Vasa completed his MD and Family Medicine residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Spanish from University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
In his free time, he enjoys running, playing video games, reading and movies, and – for better or worse – following politics. He and his wife together like to play board games with family and friends. A fun fact about Jake is that at 6’3″, he is the shortest of six Vasa men. He plays with several of his younger, taller brothers in weekly basketball leagues.
As he looks ahead, Dr. Vasa aims to continue learning at OneWorld while delivering high-quality care for all people.
“Achieving cultural competency with the broad array of populations we serve at OneWorld is a long-term goal of mine,” he said. “Every patient is different and being able to meet people where they’re at goes a long way in the patient-doctor relationship.”
