OneWorld Spotlight: Bridget Wieczorek
Certified Nurse Midwife Bridget Wieczorek, CNM, MSN, APRN, joined OneWorld in 2017, having worked in a variety of clinical, administrative and research roles. Bridget came to OneWorld because she’s passionate about helping others – particularly the patients served by OneWorld.
“I … was excited to work with the underserved community helping them to navigate their individual health journey,” Bridget said.
Bridget graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, earned a certificate of Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, and earned her Master of Nursing from Case Western Reserve University.
Bridget began working in women’s health after graduating from college. Her first job in this field was in Kansas City, Mo.; she then returned to Omaha to work in labor, delivery and postpartum at University of Nebraska Medical Center. She also worked as a director of a family planning clinic and as a hematology researcher before returning to her roots in nursing in labor and delivery.
Her first midwifery position followed in 1998. She then became director of UNMC’s midwifery group and helped bring midwifery to Bellevue Hospital’s obstetrics services. In 2012, Bridget first gained experience at OneWorld while temporarily covering for a provider on leave; she also pursued training as a sexual assault nurse examiner during this time. Following this work, she joined Methodist Health System’s midwifery group for five years. She then returned to OneWorld in a permanent role.
Beyond her work in women’s health, Bridget loves to go for walks, travel with her husband, sing, mentor and support fellow entrepreneurs, cook, and learn new things. She and her husband have been married 35 years, and they have six grandchildren.
