OneWorld spotlight
Kara Higgins, CNM, joined the OneWorld Women’s Health team in 2009. Prior to OneWorld, Higgins worked at a freestanding birth center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Higgins attended Rockhurst University for her nursing degree and the University of Kansas School of Medicine for her master’s degree. She received her certificate in trauma-based care from Texas Christian University.
“I am passionate about informed parenting for children who have experienced trauma and working with other parents and caregivers to help equip them to better love their children.”
When she is not working as a midwife, Higgins spends time with her husband and six children. Together they run a non-profit in Rwanda, Imana Kids.
Higgins works with prenatal patients at the Women’s Health Clinic located at the Livestock Exchange Health Campus, and at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy, where many OneWorld prenatal patients deliver their babies.
OneWorld’s mission and families inspired Higgins to join the Women’s Health team.
“We believe people deserve, as fellow humans, access to all the tools they need to thrive and achieve their dreams. We are motivated to provide the best care for all and we are passionate about our mission.”
