OneWorld Spotlight: Magda Alvarez
Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Magda Alvarez, DNP, WHNP-BC, joined OneWorld in 2023, following her graduation from University of Nebraska Medical Center and prior experience in labor and delivery. Training at OneWorld while she was a student marked a turning point for her.
“Once I met the patients we serve, I knew this organization was where I wanted to build my career,” Magda said. “I am passionate about providing our patients with access to up-to-date medical treatments and education to better their overall health.”
Magda earned a bachelor of science in health and human physiology from the University of Iowa, a bachelor of science in nursing from Creighton University and a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Her career in women’s health began at Methodist Women’s Hospital, where for seven years she helped women deliver babies as a labor and delivery nurse. During that time, she advanced her education in women’s and fetal health by earning her electronic fetal monitoring certification and women’s health nurse practitioner degree.
While studying for her doctor of nursing practice, Magda conducted and published research on fear of birth and childcare preferences among BIPOC women. It was also while studying for this degree that she trained at OneWorld.
Outside of work, Magda enjoys spending time with her family outdoors doing activities like camping and hiking, and indoors by playing board games. She enjoys running and racing. To wind down at the end of the day, she reads murder mystery books.
