OneWorld Spotlight: Corey Oldenhuis
Corey Oldenhuis is the Associate Director of Communications at OneWorld, having joined in 2024. He brings extensive experience in news reporting and marketing across multiple sectors in Nebraska and beyond. Corey said he came to OneWorld to be part of the solution in ensuring health care access for all people in our community.
“I think of OneWorld as empathy at scale,” Corey said. “It’s truly inspiring, and I’m deeply proud to help elevate the stories of those at OneWorld who are actually doing the hard work for the most vulnerable populations.”
Corey earned his Bachelor of Journalism from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He started out as a print news reporter for newsrooms in Arizona and Washington, then made a switch to marketing after moving home to Omaha. Back in Nebraska, he worked in content marketing for a local agency, then for a business-to-business marketing start-up. Most recently before joining OneWorld, guided by a passion for learning about world cultures and religions, he served as Communications Manager at Tri-Faith Initiative.
Outside of work, Corey and his fiancée Hannah enjoy taking walks, watching movies, playing video games and trying new experiences in Omaha. He also plays Dungeons and Dragons, loves making music with his Fender Stratocaster and is an avid reader. A self-avowed “HUGE history and geography nerd,” Corey travels the planet whenever he can.
Corey views the world through a lens of examining policy choices and pervasive but unquestioned narratives. Said Corey: “The world is more malleable than we think, though we have to start small, with ourselves and with our local communities.”
