An Inside Look
Dr. Emily Braun, Pediatrician
Emily Braun, MD, IBCLC, FAAP, serves as a Pediatrician at OneWorld Community Health Centers’ Bellevue clinic. Before entering the medical field, she earned her undergraduate degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Spanish and anthropology.
Shifting to the medical field, Emily earned her medical degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center.
To pursue a career in pediatrics, Emily completed her pediatrics residency and chief residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. With Nebraska being home, she and her family returned to Omaha upon completion of her chief residency to be closer to family.
“I always had an interest in public health and health disparities, and OneWorld seemed like the perfect place to start my career in pediatrics,” Emily said. “I also wanted to use and improve my Spanish.”
Emily’s husband is a political science professor at UNL. Their household is full of their four young children’s tiny hands and their elderly dog, who is convinced she is a lap dog.
If Emily is not updating her family’s Google calendar or trying to convince her husband they need to adopt a cat, she enjoys going for walks, listening to podcasts and drawing.
When at OneWorld, Emily’s passion for maternal child health motivates her to provide high-quality care for her patients.
“OneWorld’s mission is inclusive of all people,” Emily said. “This type of health care model is not only progressive, but inspiring. Working here and serving our patients and their families has taught me so much about how to be a better physician and human being, and I am so thankful for this experience.”
